List of Small Business Ideas-Things Artistic Types Can Do To Earn Money From Home

Trying to come up with a list of small business ideas?  Have you been accused of being artsy-fartsy?  Do you get lost in the craft store?  Do you think there’s no hope for someone like you to earn money with a small business?  Think again.  If you are artistic you CAN earn money from home using your artistic talents.  Here are a few suggestions to get you started.

1.  Sell your goods through an online venue.

There are several sites online that cater to people that make handmade items.  Why not set up shop at one of these sites and start selling your creations?  This is one easy way you can make money with your artistic talents.  One good place to start for this is etsy.com.  Not only do they focus on handmade items, but there’s also a genuine sense of community on that site.

2.  Sell your goods at a craft fair.

Many cities have craft fairs every year.  You could make money traveling to different craft fairs in your area.  Be sure to get contact information from everyone that stops by your booth.  This way you are building up your customer database.  You can let these people know when your next show is going to be, creating a following for yourself and your work.  If you already have a website, be sure to give something away that has your website address on it so the people that visit your booth can have a way to contact you even if they don’t buy anything.3. Create your own website and sell from your site.

There’s no reason why you can’t have your own personal site selling your crafts.  It’s really easy to create a website these days.  Most of the hosting packages you buy have some sort of plug and play feature included to help make things easy for you.  You could also set your site up as a wordpress blog and go from there.  All you would need to do after that would be to get a payment processor such as paypal, stick the buttons up with some pictures and compelling copy and voila, you’ve got a webstore. Of course you also have to drive traffic to your site, but that’s a whole different article. There’s nothing that says you have to be a starving artist these days.  With a little ingenuity and some marketing know-how, you can make money doing what you love, creating works of art.  Happy creating!
